Government urged to resettle Eldera IDPs, boost security

Isiolo County Woman Representative Rehema Jaldesa has called on the national government to resettle internally displaced persons and address the security challenge in Eldera by deploying more officers.

The lawmaker noted that the lack of security had adversely affected school going pupils forcing a majority of them to keep off learning centres for over eight months.

“I urge the National Government to beef up security and speedily solve the current impasse and ensure the life and property of the residents is protected. The insecurity has mostly affected Pupils who have missed school for the past eight months and it is my hope that learning may now commence as security has stabilised.” Jaldesa said.

The lawmaker through her office distributed assorted household items including mattresses, chairs and cooking utensils to IDPS in Eldera and appealed to the government to resolve the security situation in order for the resident to resume their normal lives.
