In the sporting world, Sean Opuora is best remembered for his superb ball control, unique dribbling skills and perfect inch passes with his magical left foot. He has been masterful in everything he has done as a football player. The leader on and off the pitch possesses an aptitude and attitude that are in equal measure.

When I ask myself if leaders are made or born the name Sean Opuora rings a bell in my head. He is a born and made leader. You will know why. He was the Captain of Saint Anthony’s Boys High School football team in Kitale in 2008 and 2009.
In 2009 he doubled up as the soccer captain and the Games Prefect. In 2007 as a form 2, the football giants won the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) football Championship. The same year they were semifinalists in the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSSA).
After his KCSE examination at the School, he had short stints at AFC Leopards and Sofapaka FC. He studied at KeMU and played for KeMU FC in the 2015 FKF Nationwide league. It did not take long before he was appointed as the team captain and given the captain’s armband.
After KeMU the immensely talented Sean played in the National Superleague (NSL) for Administrative Police, Bidco United, and Fortune SACCO. In all these teams Sean was the undisputed captain.
In 2018 as the captain of Bidco United he was the second top scorer in the National Super League. We cannot call being the second top goal scorer in a National League a weakness. He had to be great. Sean Opuora quit active football while employed at Chuka University as a Sports officer. Success has followed him at the University. He is the soccer coach together with fellow sports Officer Stephen Ouma.
He led the Chuka University women’s team to the Chapa Dimba Na Safaricom football championship regional finals in Machakos. He also coached the soccer team in the FKF National Division 2 League Zone B last year. Under their tutelage, Chuka University participated in the KUSA National University Playoffs in JKUAT.
Sean Opuora and Stephen Ouma are both licensed football coaches. Stephen Ouma is the Secretary-General of the Kenya Universities Sports Association Central Conference (KUSA-CENTRAL).
