Since she assumed office as the third governor of Meru County, Kawira Mwangaza hit the ground running in among other issues to secure county government assets. She created a team that included officers from the county government and those drawn from the national government to inspect, verify and organize all motor vehicles and motorcycles belonging to the county government f Meru.
On Motorcycles Recovery the governor notes that the Directorate of fleet management services carried out a counting exercise for motorcycle audit which include public health and veterinary officers.
The initial report revealed that most motorcycles are functional and serviceable, while others require minor and major repairs: They include 15 in Urru, Kianjai, 15 in Maua, 32 in Kinoru, 5 grounded at Kinoru AI offices, 3 grounded at Muriiri Vet office, 1 retained by Government Vehicles Check Unit police at Kangeta police station, 2 at the garage, one at a private garage in Meru town for almost two years, and the other one at another garage in Nkubu for almost four months.
The ongoing activity also covers the county government vehicles and has incorporated officers from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Unit, Directorate of Criminal Investigation, National Transport and Safety Authority, and the fleet management unit within the county government.
