Pressure has been mounting on Members of Parliament in Meru, Isiolo, Tharaka Nithi, Embu, Marsabit, Samburu, Laikipia, and Kitui as residents express vote of no confidence with their performance in the last eight months.
In Meru, only three to the list of best performing out of the total nine MPs in the County, an indication that people are demanding more from their elected leaders, not the usual empty campaign promises.
MPs Shadrack Mwiti (Imenti South) Moses Kirima Nguchine (Imenti Central) and John Kanyuithia Mutunga (Tigania West) made it through to the 20 best-performing MPs in the Country by the time of a study done by Politrack Africa between March 28th to April 28th, 2023 that covered 290 constituencies and 1450 Wards.
Mwiti got a 64.7% approval rating; Kirima attained 62.9% while Mutunga had 61% as the rest were nowhere to be found.
In Kitui County, out of the total seven constituencies, only Gideon Mulyungu of Kitui Central got, a 61.8% rating, his counterpart Edith Nyenze of Kitui West got 58.1% and Nimrod Mbai of Kitui East who got 54.1% had satisfied their electorates by their performances.
In Isiolo County, with three constituencies, only Joseph Samal Lomwa, 61.8% (Isiolo North) proved to his electorates beyond any reasonable doubt that he was the best bet for his people.
Tharaka Nithi County produced only Patrick Munene while Samburu could boost Dominic Letipika of the Samburu North constituency.
Karemba Muchangi is the only MP from Embu County to make it to the list of 20 best-performing MPs rated at 66.3% as Guyo Wako Jaldesa is the only one who represented the expansive Marsabit County with a rating of 64.1%. Ndidi Nyoro of Kiharu was voted the best MP.
