Former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya has sensationally claimed that there is a specific squad within the police force formed by the President William Ruto administration with orders to shoot and kill innocent Kenyans engaging in the Azimio La Umoja Coalition leader Raila Odinga protests.
“Those who are destroying property, killing and burning houses are the incited police officers. There are also advanced recruitment plans and the emergence of illegal gangs being formed to engage in war crimes and kill people,” Munya said.
The former Meru Governor has claimed that Mt Kenya people are peaceful and know how to exercise their democratic rights without causing mayhem, looting, or destroying property.
Munya said there is no turning back on picketing until the Finance Act that was enacted by President Ruto is shot down. He added that Bodaboda riders have parked their motorcycles due to high fuel prices while many cannot afford their daily bread because of the high cost of living.
“This is the reason we will never keep quiet. We warned Kenyans against electing Ruto. Our people do not feed on handouts but their own sweat from their farms. The Finance Bill aims to draw back gains made by the Mt Kenya business community,” he said.
He accused some MPs who have been castigating Azimio over demos of being fuelled by bribes and handouts from Statehouse to keep quiet while residents continue to suffer.
“We can’t keep quiet to face a similar fate to what happened in 2007/2009. We are ready to defend and raise our voices like our forefathers fought for Independence,” Munya said.
Munya said they continue fighting for Kenyans as the Country is headed in the wrong direction led by ‘cartels’.
Speaking in Nakuru on Friday, Ruto accused his former boss of secretly sponsoring the Azimio One Kenya Alliance demonstrations.
Interior CS Kithure Kindiki has warned that the government will deal ruthlessly with any individual who intends to take advantage of the planned peaceful protest to cause chaos in the country.
