Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki has reiterated his administration’s commitment in ensuring that residents of Tharaka need get access to clean, safe and affordable water for use.
Speaking during the commissioning of the Kajuki Water Treatment Plant by First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, Governor Njuki said his administration was keen on setting more such units to address the water challenge in the County.
“This is the first among such units we are setting up in other parts of our County to give residents access to safe water, a requirement of public health services. A Healthy Nation is a key pillar of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Big 4 Agenda” Governor Njuki said.
The 25,000 liters water treatment plant which is funded by the National Government in partnership with the Nairobi Ram Katha will provide safe and adequate drinking water to the 5,000 residents of Kajuki area.
First Lady Margaret Kenyatta who was accompanied by her Zimbabwe counterpart Auxillia Mnangagwa and Water CS Simon Chelugui hailed the project as a great achievement that will make a difference in the community and give hundreds of families hope.
“This treatment plant will provide better options for clean water and storage. It gives hope to families, that the future of their children is protected from the burden of illnesses originating from waterborne diseases. It is a true testament that we can make a difference and achieve great milestones when we come together to serve.” The First lady said.
