KeMU FC the name given to the football team of Kenya Methodist University is an icon in Meru County and beyond the borders. Last year, the team justified its prowess in the game when they finished 2nd in the Regional League behind Juba FC from Isiolo. The regional league included teams from Meru, Isiolo, Tharaka Nithi, and Embu Counties. The league was well organized and competitive. KeMU FC’s talisman Meshack “Star boy” Bwire was the top scorer in the league with a total of 39 goals on the score sheet under his name.
KeMU FC is synonymous with beautiful football and sportsmanship. The team does not know how to win ugly. After finishing 2nd in the Eastern Region Zone B League the team was promoted to the FKF Division 2 Northern Zone League which covers Kajiado, Kitengela, Kitui, Machakos, Embu, Meru, and Isiolo Counties. This will be a good marketing platform for the University. KeMU has produced many sporting icons and is still nurturing talents while doing its core business which is embracing teaching and embracing spirituality.
The Head coach of the team is Mr. Hillary Mukasa a CAF C qualified coach assisted by Emmanuel Muoki a CAF D certified coach and Eric Otieno a basic coaching certified coach. The Team Manager is Ken Koome a member of staff in the University while the PRO is Richard Gitonga a former Meru bombers football legend currently working at CMC in Meru. The team doctors are Zipporah Nasieku a Pharmacy student and Wambui Njuguna a student in the Department of Nursing. Both team doctors are students at KeMU. KeMU FC owes all the success and glory in the Regional League and all other competitions in 2021 to the University Management that has been very supportive in revamping sports in the University.
