Meru County set to host world elephant day

Meru County set to host world elephant day
August 10, 2018 Eastern Newspaper

Meru County is set to play host to this year’s world elephant day on August 11 2018.

The World elephant day is usually marked on August 12 but organizers have brought it forward and it will be marked locally at the Agricultural Society of Kenya showgrounds in Gitoro.

The day is set aside to bring attention to the plight of the elephants, whose very existence teeters on the brink of extinction.

The debate on Human-Wildlife conflict is expected to take center stage during the event.

Meru County plays host to an estimated 674 jumbo.
