ANC Party Leader Musalia Mudavadi has called on Education CS George Magoha to engage in dialogue with KNUT and other stakeholders in the Education sector for a lasting solution to the standoff on the implementation of the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC).
Speaking in Maua, Meru County on Sunday, Mudavadi said there was need to address concerns raised by stakeholders in the sector before implementing the new curriculum.
“I call upon the Education CS Magoha to engage in dialogue with the KNUT officials and other stakeholders in the education sector so that a lasting solution on the implementation of the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) is realized.” Mudavadi said.
He noted that education was a sensitive matter and cautioned against messing the sector adding that it will negatively impact on the learners future.
“Gambling with the education of our children amounts to killing future generations” Mudavadi added.
The implementation of the new curriculum has been hampered by the standoff between the Education ministry and KNUT with the latter accusing the ministry of using shortcuts in the process.
According to KNUT, a summary evaluation report of the current 8-4-4 curriculum was yet to be conducted to establish the merits and demerits of the same.
KNUT Secretary General and nominated MP Wilson Sossion on Sunday called on teachers to revert to the current Outcome Based Curriculum and the new competency based curriculum implementation be halted until issues raised by the union are addressed.
