Conmen prowling around and demanding bribes from residents seeking 284 Early Childhood Education (ECDE) teaching vacancies in Embu will face dire consequences.
Embu deputy Governor David Kariuki has said the County government is planning to employ 284 more ECDE teachers to add to over 800 it employed some years back so as to effectively teach nursery school pupils and thus provide them with a firm learning foundation.
He said although the jobs have not yet been advertised the information of the planned recruitment of the teachers has leaked out. Kariuki said following the leakage of the information on the issue some selfish, unscrupulous and wicked conmen pretending to be the county employees or well connected to the county administration have invaded villages conning prospective recruits of thousands of Kenya shillings allegedly to help them secure the job.
He said unsuspecting innocent persons are falling prey to the merciless tricksters warning that culprits who will be arrested shall be dealt with ruthlessly to teach them a lesson and prevent others with such evil ideas.
He cautioned any job seeker who feels he or she qualifies for the job not to give out a bribe to anybody and wait until the vacancies are advertised in the newspapers and apply, assuring that the jobs will be given out on merit and not on bribery.
Kariuki was speaking at Siakago Shopping Centre in Mbeere North he represented Governor Martin Wambora in a public meeting.
