The collapse of his business challenges that provided him with basic needs due to cash crunch storms brought about by covid-19 did not kill his hope.
Kenneth Munene, a Kithirune-based Dairy farmer thought it was the end of him due to the financial crisis after COVID-19 led to the collapse of his then-thriving Dairy cattle-rearing business.
Munene was left with only one cow that produced only six litters per day and more than 25 empty sheds after selling the rest.
Munene said Golden Pillar Sacco through the Githongo branch gave him seed capital to buy more cows and in less than five months he had bought four cows.
“Before my venture collapsed as an effect of COVID-19, my cows were producing 300 liters per day by then. I was left with a structure of more than 50 cows. In early 2022 I was introduced to GPS Sacco and I shared my past worries but showed them my vision. They listened and built trust in me.
They committed to walking the Journey of regaining my status back. They gave me seed capital in less than one year. I now have ten cows. I am looking forward to the near future when I will be producing 1000 liters per day. In the next two years we will be millionaires and employers,” Munene said.
One can imagine the returns of 1000litres produced multiplied by Sh50 the society pays per liter in one month bearing in mind you are not paying any fare traveling to work, no rent paid, no feed expenses, no water bills, and electricity bill is so minimum, he says.
“I can confess it is efforts of Golden Pillar, I produced 70 liters in a day. I encourage every person in Meru to join Golden Pillar and never tie oneself to saying there are no jobs in Kenya,” he said.
He said there are so many storms farming cabbages and potatoes ranging from high prices of fertilizer, poor rains downfall, and lack of readily available market.
Munene’s wife Fridah Munene quit her Nairobi job to permanently take full responsibility at their Dairy farm.
Munene has tea, cabbage, potato, and tomato farms too.
Munene praised her wife for accepting his clarion call to quit and concentrate on their multimillion enterprises.
“It looked stupid to quit the job for Dairy farming but I no longer regret it. Potato and Cabbage prices are dictated by brokers despite your toil and labor. With Golden Pillar Sacco, things are now very cheap because I own my Biogas, have no water bills, no rent arrears, and no buying manure. We are going far. I hustle and she manages the business to this great success. She has stood the challenge and the gap,” she said.
