Isiolo: Assembly approves Government partnership with NGO for provision of Healthcare services

The County Assembly of Isiolo has approved a partnership between the County Government and Living Goods, an NGO for the provision of primary health care whereby community health workers will help in disease prevention through sensitization on the need for proper hygiene.

Under the partnership, Living Goods will come up with sustainable and cost effective healthcare solutions as well as engaging community health workers in remote parts of the County.

In a unanimous vote, the ward representatives gave the partnership a clean bill of health and called on residents and other stakeholders to support the initiative and help transform the health sector in Isiolo.

In a statement the ward reps noted that “The engagement with Living Goods, an organization which also works in Nakuru, Kisii, Busia, Kakamega and Kiambu counties will focus on primary health care at community level in remote areas of Isiolo, Merti and Garba Tulla sub counties and we owe it to ourselves to support it.”

The partnership which will run for 4 years will see more than 700 community health volunteers employed, trained and equipped to offer primary health care.
