As the Corona Virus (COVID – 19) continues to sweep across the world, various precautionary measures have been taken by health facilities all over the world. In Kenya, leading hospitals are in the frontline in ensuring that the well-being of their patients and all the people is ensured.
St Theresa’s mission hospital Kiirua in Meru County is the biggest hospital in the region and for that matter, it is taking steps to ensure that the Government of Kenya and, The World Health Organization health guidelines are followed in this time of COVID 10 Pandemic.
With the reporting of the first Corona Virus case in Kenya, the St. Theresa Mission Hospital – Kiirua management took upon itself to ensure that relevant measures have been put into place to fight the spread of the pandemic.
Among the measures taken by the hospital include COVID – 19 Screening Triage point was set up where all the people coming to the hospital are screened for COVID – 19 before accessing the hospital.
Additional Hand washing stations with soap and water and Hand Sanitizing points are increased to ensure that everyone getting into the hospital easily observes the hand washing and sanitizing precaution.
The management has put measures in place to urge people to settle their hospital bills through the hospital Playbill No.488514 or electronic modes of payment.
Notices urging clients to maintain a 1-meter distance from each other as they wait to be served as well as frequent verbal reminders were affected as precautionary measures.
Patient visitation was canceled to control the risk of infection by contact and crowding. In light of the cancellation, the hospital is now contacting the patient’s Next of Kin where need be.
The hospital has also provided cell phone numbers for various departments that one can call to make inquiries on the progress of their patients.
