Isiolo County police commander Manasseh Musyoka who was shot and injured seriously in June 2018 while pursuing stolen livestock has come out in public to announce that he has forgiven those who almost killed him and called for peaceful coexistence between various communities living in Isiolo and the neighboring counties of Meru, Samburu and Laikipia.
During recent peace reconciliation between Ngare Mara and Loruko communities which had been organized by Isiolo Peace Link and held at Ngare Mara secondary school, Musyoka announced that he’d already forgiven not only the culprit who shot him but also the community where he comes from.
“Peace and peaceful coexistence between family members, neighbors and various communities living together as brothers and sisters in one a given area is a very important asset and resource for development. Whenever I see Kenyans in any place I am giving my services as a servant of the people I always see loving and peaceful citizens who should be respecting each other.
I got injured to an extent of losing my life while on line of duty but through the grace of our almighty God I survived. We were shot at as we were pursuing stolen livestock to get them back to their rightful owners in Dahaba area but today I’ve come here to announce that I’ve forgiven whoever shot me and the community where he comes from. I’ve also come to preach peace and peaceful coexistence between our various communities in Isiolo and its neighboring counties of Meru, Samburu, Laikipia and all surrounding counties,” said Musyoka.
Musyoka said Kenyans should learn to coexist peacefully from the recent ‘Handshake’ between president Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga, forgetting what had happened in the past and focus ahead. He highly lauded and appreciated Isiolo Peace Link and its director Abdia Mohamud for their concerted efforts to bring peace in Isiolo County and its neighbors.
“One of our partners that we are working together with to bring everlasting peace and harmony in our county is Isiolo Peace Link. They’ve got a wonderful director, Abdia Mohamud, who is always in forefront to talk and bring about peace whenever there is a problem. I thank Abdia and Isiolo peace link for organizing this peace talks between the Loruko and Ngare Mara communities for what had happened not long ago as now we are back to the right track of peaceful coexistence,” further said the Isiolo police commander.
He added he will get along to partner and work with Isiolo peace Link to bring about peace, harmony and peaceful coexistence between Kenyan citizens not only in Isiolo but other parts of Kenya, even if he’s transferred from Isiolo and also when he will be retired.
Musyoka also added he would love so much to go back to Dahaba where he was shot to preach peace and reason with residents from that area on peaceful coexistence with their neighbors and other Kenyan citizens who are necessarily not from that region.
During the event, the Isiolo police boss was accompanied by his Administration Police /AP counterpart Michael Kaitha, who said to enhance security Loruko area they have increased administration police officers up to ten. He urged parents from that area to get back their children to school starting January next year as security is now beefed up.
