A bunch of Muguka

The Taita Taveta government banned the sale of Muguka in the region, with Governor Granton Samboja justifying it with claims it had negative effects on the population, especially.
Addressing residents when he toured various parts of the county, Governor Samboja said it was unfortunate that young people had become addicted to chewing Muguka leaves, mainly grown in Embu County.
”I have received numerous complaints, especially from residents, mainly women, about the high rates of young people spending all their time in Muguka dens, a situation that has greatly affected families. This is not right and I will not allow it,” Samboja said at Wundanyi.
The county boss said his administration is committed to transforming lives of all residents in all aspects, hence the reason he was banning it.
Samboja, who also declared war on illegal drugs and its sellers directed county government officials to immediately start driving out Muguka sellers and consumers in the county.
‘I am instructing the county enforcement unit to take immediate action and ensure that no Muguka business is left to thrive within the county of Taita Taveta. My government cannot tolerate the negative effects of this drug’ he stated.
However, Muguka farmers and sellers in Embu reacted with anger, and accused him of killing their business. They refuted Samboja’s claim muguka is a drug, citing lack of any scientific study.
