Embu Water and Sanitation Company is the full name of EWASCO FC. The team from Embu played in the FKF Division 2 Northern Zone last year and finished in a respectable position.
The team has been together for at least three years therefore the consistency. Asked by The Eastern Newspaper about their toughest match in last year’s league, Dickson Njiru the sponsor says Mutomo Tigers gave them a great challenge at their Mutomo ground since they had a large and hostile crowd.
Dickson Njiru is the sponsor of the team by virtue of being the founder and the official team Manager. EWASCO takes 90% of the sponsorship.
The existence of a highly organized team definitely has a number of benefits to the community.
The soccer lovers in Embu are back to the stadium and pitch to cheer their beloved team.
This has kept the youths gainfully engaged and hence the reduction of indulgence in immoral behaviors like drug and substance abuse.
The team has created employment for some youths at the Embu Water and Sanitation Company. EWASCO FC has the vision to be in the Kenya Premier League in the next 5 years and represent Kenya in the CAF competition.
Currently, the team has dedicated officials and a technical bench that is helping to fulfill the dreams of the team. The current Head Coach is Justus Muhati a former player of AFC Leopards in its` heydays.
The Secretary-General of the team is Edwin Fundi while the Treasurer is Sam Kinyua. The team faces financial constraints that make transportation for matches strenuous. The league covers 8 Counties and the team needs to travel from time to time to honor its matches.
Due to the minimal resources available, the team cannot employ a qualified and full-time coach. Despite the few challenges the team is faced with, their goal is to move higher and higher.
